I think that the narrative hugely overplays each element of this apartment. The great transformation that happened here in my opinion is describing budget choices as designer ones. I’m sorry but I don’t buy it. Eg. 2:48 “it was important that this area was open plan” = with only 1 window/entrance door they didn’t have much choices, did they?. 3:06 “the minimalist design of the kitchen was chosen to avoid being overbearing”= the room could either fit a kitchen or a sofa, the only available option was a kitchenette. And don’t get me started on the description of the breakfast bar at 3:39 . I find all this video irritatingly patronising.

Love the layout and love that it was a full building reno whilst keeping so many elements.

Some fundamental design issues? Cupboard doors in the kitchen opening in the wrong direction. A bed you can't make. Bedroom storage you have to clamber across the bed to reach?

Apart from the wacky deco and the somewhat overwhelming bright colours...I love the layout and materials used.

This is beautiful, it's a home, love the colours, the practicality of the space, plenty of light. One of my favourites!

There is a dining area, a banquette in the kitchen with two stools. If that's what is considered missing, it doesn't any more.

The washing machine on the balcony? Wouldn't work in my climate, but so genius!

This is really clever design. I really like how sleek it is. Its incredibly minimal living.. I feel sad a couple lives here, that our generation has to have such minimal living quarters in order for it to be affordable, or to afford quality, but anyway, if people have to, these design tricks are very harmonius, and boat building is a great space to learn from for functionality

This would be perfect for just me! Especially because it has an office area! That doesn’t exist in a lot of one bedroom apartments. The only thing I do not like is that it’s all white. I feel like I’d get it dirty lol I don’t even have white clothes.

Do you have to climb on the bed to access the wardrobe?

Darlinghurst, these days, is a location where you need to be pretty well established (very good income or generational wealth) to buy into the area. It's right in inner-city Sydney. I'd imagine this place, before renovations, was well over a million dollars. The average for tiny places like this in this area seems to be around 1.3 million dollars. To the people commenting about her voice, not all Australian's do that. It's actually very typical of teenagers and she seems to have a bit of that vocal fry going (American).

Beautiful space; confused by the sliding door for the bathroom which also opens up a cabinet area in the kitchen. What if one person is trying to leave the bathroom, and the other person in the kitchen wants to access the cabinet? Seems weird that you are using one sliding wall to do both and they would create an issue if this scenario played itself out.

He managed to fit a single unit into the original living room. I wonder what the whole house floorplan was like before being separated into four flats? That would've been an interesting comparison. I actually really liked this.

I agree that we need to think more creatively to ensure young people can buy into housing and this property is an excellent example of this. But as a 60 year old who is starting to wind everything down (I.e. less cooking and less hobbies and grown grandchildren ) this sized property would be perfect! And then my only concern would be door width and steps or access (universal design issues). Gorgeous property and beautifully executed ❤

I'd love to live here! Storage is well done, but certainly made for a more minimalistic person! But its beautiful, I defo need more closed storage options myself. I love this look.

I'm not sure I love this one, the kitchen looks extremely impractical and the home has very little soul.

It's a nice small apartment and it would work for short term renting. I would change the coffee table with one that can become a dinner table. I agree with all the comments on the bed, some lateral space is needed. Very good use of the desk room.
